鮑勃．狄倫的詩歌藝術兼具抗議與神秘主義。這位甫獲得2016年諾貝爾文學奬的民歌/搖滾巨星，曾說他一直要到18歲因為發現金斯堡（Allen Ginsberg）與史耐德（Gary Snyder）等多位垮世代（the Beat Generation）詩人的詩作後，才走上寫詩之路。縱然起步較晚，但很快就獲得與狄倫發展出深厚情感的金斯堡的讚美：「狄倫的作品以音樂為中介讓詩歌再度回到人的具體感受」。

我十幾歲時第一次聽到與狄倫同時期的瓊．拜雅那淨宏、包含的歌聲後，從此愛上了美國70年代那些像吟遊詩人的歌者與他們的歌。我喜歡那時期的歌帶有沈緩的詩意，給我飛向山、天空與大地之感，一種清切與高雅。

70年代的美國民權運動風起雲湧，為禁用核武、為和平而走，抗議越戰與冷戰，學運在大學燃燒，也燃燒出許多抗議、時事歌曲，而最具代表的就是狄倫的《在風中飄》 (Blowing in the Wind)。話說這首歌雖然非常知名並不斷被傳唱，但因為部分歌詞具有象徵意含不易懂，因此引發不少討論。事實上這首歌的歌詞深具狄倫融合抗議與神秘色彩的特色，以下是我的翻譯與解釋：

答案就在風中飄

為何答案就在風中飄？因為答案很明顯，就在眼前。是我們看得到，伸手就可從風中捕捉到，只要我們願意。問題出在我們沒這個意願。不過也可從相反的角度解釋。風不是固體，飄來飄去，怎麼捉呢？因此捉風是做不到的事。也就是說，和平與公平正義是人類永遠達不到的目標，但這正是我們所要努力奮鬥不懈的。

歌詞裡的「白鴿」象徵和平。白鴿飛過一個大海又一個大海，無法歇息，不停息地飛，意指苦苦尋找和平，但仍遍尋不著，一旦白鴿能在沙灘上安睡，即是和平終於來臨。

狄倫這首《在風中飄》有著蒼遠迷茫的命運音響，同時又有一種抒情與智慧互溶的詩意。昔之越戰對映今之敘利亞阿勒坡如火如荼、武器更兇殘的屠城戰，是以幾十萬平民生靈為籌碼、為戮殺轟炸對象，成群成群地死亡，暴殘獨裁者又哪裡有聽到教宗大聲疾呼呢？

狄倫得獎，這首歌又再度吹過二十一世紀，吹過深夜的良心，淨潔裡有空虛，空虛裡有淨潔，吹過一座一座廢墟裡的清醒。
